So over the next four weekends it looks like we have three great skimboarding events happening on Vancouver Island!! First is the Switch Tide Slide 2010 at Gonzales Beach on Saturday, July 17th. Switch Boardshop has hosted this event three years in a row now and it has always been an absolute blasty-blast! I highly recommend checking it out if you’re in Victoria this weekend!
The second event is the Zed Skimboard’s second edition of the Island Skim Series, the event is on Saturday July 24th at Saratoga Beach in Campbell …

I’ll be honest, when I first heard about the Sub Zero Skim Jam, I immediately thought of 15-year-old kids skipping school and heading down to the beach, drinking and choking on stolen cigarettes. Apparently, that was just me.
The third annual Sub Zero Skim Jam contestants were as pumped on their sport as any soccer hooligan is on theirs, smiling and laughing even while encased in 5mm of rubber, and doing random wind sprints up and down the beach.

Well, that was crazy. That was the best skimboarding event I’ve hosted to date, this time with the help of my boy Brett Wildeman! We had the sickest skimboarding conditions right in the backyard of the Big Fish Lodge in Port Renfrew and managed to throw the most unreal after party in the lodge.
