Hey,
I’m leaving for nanaimo on the 28th. Is there anything going on around that time or the week after. I am new to skimboarding but totally stoked to try it out. We will be hitting up qualicum beach. Is that a good place to start? I wanna see some people in action to get the feel of things :}

Hey Kacey,
I don’t believe there are any events happening while you are in Nanaimo, how long will you be on the island for?
Qualicum Beach is a great place to start, I would reccommend going to Parksville Beach on your way out to Qualicum though. It’s an amazing spot.
Anybody in the Kye Bay area, stop by the Kye Bay guest lodge for a visit. We are looking for more information on Skimming as a sport.
Cheers!

Hey,
I live in Vernon, B.C, and have very few places to skim. Anyone know of any other good spots in the Okanagan? My favorite lake spots elsewhere so far have been at McKenzie Lake in Calgary and Six-Mile Beach in Nelson.

Where in Vancouver can I buy or rent a skimboard? I’m living in Alberta right now, but moving back right away. Pacific Boarder’s website only mentions Surfboard and standup paddle board rentals, and nothing about skimboards at all.
Thanks for any and all help!

Heh, I guess Skim Spots isnt the best place to post asking where to find a board. I found that Pacific sells Zed boards, but I have another question: Is there places in Vancouver/on the mainland to ride waves? Flatland is fun, but it’s a hassle bringing a rail everywhere.

the sunshine coast and lower mainland require significant wind for wave riding, being blocked from groundswell by vancouver island. Anything around 20 to 30+ knots and it’ll be worthwhile to check the shores.
as for a board message jasper on here, he’s likely got what you’re looking for. Here is the marine forecast website, your new best friend, but they do f-up. http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/marine/region_e.html?mapID=03

Hey guys if you want a good place go to sartoga beach in black creek(outside courtenay)at about 12:00 to 2:00 in the afternoon its always amazing 80ft long pools that are like 2cm deep to 10-15cm deep pools for rails, really sweet place to pop triks and stuff.
